Top defense officials from 40 Muslim-majority countries gathered in Saudi Arabia on Sunday as part of an alliance created two years ago to fight terrorism. The members of the Saudi-led Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) agreed to boost their military and financial cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism and to drain financial support for terrorist organizations. “Today we began to pursue terrorism, and today we see defeats in many countries around the world, especially in Islamic countries, and we shall be those who assure its disappearance from the face of the earth,” Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in his keynote speech at the meeting. His comments come in the wake of a deadly Islamic State attack on a mosque in Egypt that killed more than 300 people.
