Dozens die of cholera in YemenThe World Health Organization said Tuesday that over the past two weeks, at least 34 Yemenis were reported dead of cholera-related causes and more than 2,000 have been taken ill. Cases of acute watery diarrhea were registered in nine governorates of the war-stricken country between April 27 and May 7. The WHO considers Yemen as one of the worst humanitarian emergencies in the world. Cholera, a waterborne disease that can quickly explode into a public health disaster, has begun to spread in Yemen, a war-ravaged country ill equipped to fight it. – New York Times
